Mr. Alton Parker Cornett, Jr., 82, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lebanon.
He was born on April 26, 1930, in Indianapolis, the son of the now late Nora Ruby (Slone) and Alton Parker Cornett, Sr.
He attended schools in Indianapolis and moved to Lebanon in 1988.
He married Margaret June (Bruce) Cornett on April 28, 1951, in Beech Grove. Mrs. Cornett survives.
Mr. Cornett worked as a pump assembler for Peerless Pump in Indianapolis for 42 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Alton enjoyed watching television and being outdoors, especially gardening and taking trips.
Survivors include wife Mrs. Margaret J. Cornett of Lebanon; four children, Mr. Allen Cornett and wife Rebecca of Brownsburg; Mr. Steven Cornett and wife Vicky of Lebanon; Mr. Glen Cornett and wife Janet of Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. Carolyn McAninch of Lebanon; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Madonna Jackson.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Browns Wonder Cemetery in Lebanon.
