Mr. Alonzo Hale, 87, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.
Mr. Hale was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Mt. Vernon, Ky., a son of the late Clyde and Tennessee (White) Hale.
He married Gracie M. (Cliff) Hale in 1949. Mrs. Hale passed away in 1989.
Reared and educated in Kentucky, he moved to Lebanon in 1953.
For many years, Mr. Hale worked at the Lumber Center in Lebanon and at a slaughter house. In the 1980s he was a custodian with the Lebanon School Corporation.
As a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family, he took pride in his children and grandchildren. In addition, he enjoyed collecting knives and attending church services at Lebanon Rock Church.
Survivors include five children, Sue Twitty of Lebanon, John (Lois) Hale of Jamestown, and Wayne (Cheryl) Lakes, Reba (Ronnie) Wright and Hazel (George) Daupert, all of Lebanon; brother, Raymond Hale of Berea, Ky.; two sisters, Sue (Jerry) Lloyd of Lebanon and Fern Lee of Salem; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Alonzo was preceded in death by a son, Gary Hale; a son-in-law, Gary Twitty; five brothers; four sisters; a brother-in-law, Harry Lee; a sister-in-law, Shelby Hale; and a grandchild, Rodney Lee Wright.
Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. today, Nov. 13, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Matt Skiles officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
