Gleyre A. “Westy” West



Mr. West was born in Crawfordsville on April 4, 1941. He was the son of Mary Charlotte (Manning) West and the now late George Allen West. He attended schools in Montgomery County.

On Oct. 30, 1960, he was married to Judith Arlene (Davis) West in Crawfordsville. Mrs. West survives.

In 1985, Mr. West and his wife moved from Crawfordsville to Lebanon. For many years he worked as a machinist, first at Pro-Guard in Indianapolis and then at Perfection Products in Lebanon.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. West enjoyed his family. He was an avid sports fan, who especially enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers.

Survivors include his wife, Judith A. West of Lebanon; mother, Mary C. West of Lafayette; three children, Scot (Meridith) West of Darlington, Charlotte M. (companion, Paul Thompson) West of Crawfordsville and Gleyre A. West II of Lebanon; brother, David (Karen) West of Darlington; sister, Tammy Harper of Lafayette; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces; and good friend, Jeanette Eck of Lebanon.

In addition to his father, Mr. West was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy L. West.

Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. Thursday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Matt Skiles officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
