Jane Lee Howard, 78, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born Jan. 24, 1936, in Lebanon, the daughter of the now late Floyd L. and Olive Lucile (Gibson) McDonald. A lifelong resident of Lebanon, she graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1954. Following high school, she attended Indiana Business College.
Jane worked in the Import/Export area of RCA – Thomson Consumer Electronics. She spent more than 20 years as a staff/volunteer at Conner Prairie in Fishers. In addition, she was the Sexton for Hopewell Cemetery in Lebanon for 45 years.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and the times they spent together. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, volunteering, bird watching and sports.
Jane was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Lebanon; Indiana State Quilt Guild; Hoosier Heritage Quilt Guild; Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, Indianapolis; and Clinton County Civic Theater.
Survivors include four children, Mike A. (Darlene) Darnell, Linda A. Darnell, Von (Donna Welton) Howard and Joanna (Perry Jr.) Shoemaker, all of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Caleb Schenck, Anthony (Amber) Schenck, Nic (companion, Elizabeth VanHook) Darnell, Megan (companion, Danny Portee) Darnell and Megan (companion, Joe Rady) Shoemaker; and five great-grandchildren, Aleigha Schenck, Asher Schenck, Carter Hammons, Brooklyn Walker and Eliza Welton.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Shane Frazier officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
