Florence C. "Doodie" Crawford

Mrs. Florence Cecelia “Doodie” Crawford, 84, of Noblesville, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at IU Health Saxony Hospital in Fishers.

Mrs. Crawford was born May 1, 1929, in Lebanon, a daughter of the now late Clarence and Opal Elizabeth (Biddle) DeMott. Having lived most of her life in Lebanon, she graduated from Lebanon High School.

On April 6, 1955, she was married to Alvin Bruckner Crawford in Lebanon. Mr. Crawford passed away on Sept. 18, 2004.

Mrs. Crawford worked as a receptionist for Dr. Coons prior to her marriage to Al. While raising her daughters, she took care of the home and helped her husband farm. Once her girls entered college, she went to work for College Life Insurance Company.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her family, she enjoyed line dancing with her husband, gardening and playing bingo and euchre.

Mrs. Crawford was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay E. (David) Dixon of Dayton, Ohio, and Julie A. (George) Baroudos of Noblesville; twin grandsons, Evan James and Eli Crawford Baroudos of Noblesville; sister, Mildred (Jim) Dickerson of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews, including Chris Christy of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a brother, James DeMott; and four sisters, Betty Christy, Lucille Reed, Marjorie Shook and Martha Moore.

Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
