Mr. William Harvey Riddle, 93, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.
William was born in Boone County, near Lebanon, on Nov. 19, 1921. He was a son of the now late John E. and Lula Adell (Dulin) Riddle.
He grew up in Boone County, where he played basketball and graduated from Whitestown High School with class of 1940. He joined the United States Navy during World War II, and served his country honorably.
In April 1950, William was married to Mary Jane Sedam. Mrs. Riddle passed away on Aug. 24, 2007.
Following his military service, William returned to Indiana. He lived in Zionsville and Indianapolis a short while, prior to moving to Lebanon. He had worked for Rock Island Refinery in Indianapolis for 38 years, before retiring at the age of 65.
William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His hobbies included fishing, camping, traveling, and watching his sons and grandsons play sports.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon and Zionsville American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, Wendell W. (Sharon) Riddle of Lebanon, and Wayne L. (Karen) Riddle of Carmel; two grandsons, Brad (Kara) Riddle and Eric Riddle, all of Carmel; and great-granddaughter, Abby Riddle of Carmel.
William was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; five brothers, Lawrence Riddle, Oren Riddle, Morris Riddle, Harold Riddle and Robert Riddle; and a sister, Anna Belle Mustin Calvert.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 1, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Graveside funeral services with military rites will be held at noon Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery, 935 E. Washington St., Lebanon.
