Emery “Gene” Bailey


— Mr. Emery “Gene” Bailey, 77, of Lebanon, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2013.

Gene was born Dec. 31, 1935, in Georgetown, Ky., a son of the now late Willie F. and Bessie Ann (Bailey) Bailey.

He married Bonnie C. (Mitchell) Bowman on Nov. 11, 1977, in Lexington, Ky., and they later divorced.   

In 1979, Gene moved to Lebanon, to work in the maintenance department at Prairie Industries.

He was a devoted father and grandfather; he loved spending time with his family. He was an avid bowler and bowled on many leagues.

Gene was a member of the Moose Lodge in Frankfort.

Survivors include three daughters, Tonya C. (Jeff) Neese of Sheridan, Beverly (Rick) Woods of Lexington and Penny Meyers of Kentucky; two stepsons, Larry Montgomery of Lafayette and Jon Montgomery of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Bailey Neese, Caitlin Neese, Taylor Neese, Mya Neese, Curtis Woods, Christopher Woods and Stephanie Chavez; and several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Bailey, Orville Bailey, J.W. Bailey, Lewis Bailey and Vernon Bailey; twin brother, Ernest Dean Bailey; and a sister, Lucy Jane Bailey.

Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories. Interment will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
