---- — Mrs. Marietta E. “Peggy” Beesley, 80, of Thorntown, passed away Dec. 13, 2013, at Homewood Healthcare.

Peggy was born October 23, 1933, in Owen County, a daughter of the now late John and Jessie (Brinson) Vaughn. She was married to Lewis Beesley in 1954. He died in 1999.

Peggy was well known for her famous cinnamon rolls and homemade bread. She loved gardening and canning and sharing it with anyone and everyone. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed riding her Gator around the farm enjoying nature and tending to any injured animals.

Peggy was a member of the Eastern Star and very active in the Thorntown United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, a member of the Thorntown United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle, MCB Neighborhood Club and Thursday Morning Bible Study Group.

Survivors include her children: Bob (Margaret) Beesley of Thorntown, Lisa (Roger) Henry of Advance, Sandy (Aaron) Gates of Thorntown, and Richard (Robin) Beesley of Sheridan; grandchildren: Benjamin (Wendy) Beesley, Brandon Beesley, and Brayton Beesley, all of Thorntown, Casey (Marc) Williams of Jamestown, Kyle (Courtney) Henry of Advance and Nicholas Beesley and Ashleigh Beesley of Sheridan; great-grandchildren Annastyn Beesley and Owen Henry; a brother, Jack (Delores) Vaughn and sister, Bonnie (Chuck) Macy, both of Spencer; along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Thorntown United Methodist Church. Peggy will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown. Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
