Harry E. Deffenbaugh

Harry E. Deffenbaugh, 75, of Yorktown, died Thursday morning, Dec. 12, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 14, 1938 in Lebanon, and was the son of the late Ferman E. & Anna Marie (Holmes) Deffenbaugh.

Harry grew up in Lebanon, and graduated from Lebanon High School Class of 1957. After Harry graduated from high school, he went to work for Western Electric, and that evolved into retirement in 1991 from AT&T. He loved to play golf, and had won several Club Championships at Cool Lake and Fairway Golf Clubs in Lebanon in addition he also won the Marion Open in Marion. Crest View Golf Club was Harry’s home away from home where he devoted many years to working and playing there. He was a member of the Muncie Elks Lodge. He was an avid fisherman, who loved fishing with his friends. Harry and his late wife Sandra loved antiques, and attending antique shows. He was well loved and respected by all that knew him. Harry’s legacy is that of a tremendous husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Harry is survived by his five children; Kimberly Brown (Jerry) of Kokomo, Douglas Deffenbaugh (Mary Jane) of Lebanon, Scott Deffenbaugh (Kim) of Lebanon, Robert Deffenbaugh of Nashville, Ind., and Jamie Daniel of Noblesville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roanna Hepburn of Winnipeg, Canada, and Karla Myers of Lebanon; four nieces and two nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years Sandra K. Deffenbaugh on Oct. 19, 2013, a sister Sandy Fry, and a brother David Myers.

Funeral services for Harry were Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. Ind. 3, Muncie, with Pastor Ben Crouse officiating. Burial followed in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial Contribution’s may be made to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
