Noah S. Way

Noah Sherman Way, 74, of Thorntown, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at his home in Thorntown.

Mr. Noah S. Way was born on March 6, 1939, in Peru, a son of the now late Wilbur Richard and Velma Eclista (Mongosa) Way. Noah moved from Peru to Thorntown at the age of 6 where he had since resided. He was a 1957 graduate of Thorntown High School.

On Sept. 27, 1959, he was married to Virginia Lois (Bragg) Way in the Thorntown Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Way survives.

Noah had worked for Guy Hawkins for four years. He then was employed at Eli Lilly in Lafayette where he retired as an engineer, after 31 years of service, in 1993. Noah was a long-time member of the Thorntown United Methodist Church and involved in community activities. His many interests were demonstrated by his involvement in numerous projects, such as helping to build a new Thorntown Fire Department facility, acquiring Thorntown Park play equipment, and promoting the Heritage Trail program. He supported The Caring Center, was a bird watcher and nature lover, and took pride in helping fellow seniors cope with challenges in their lives.

Noah was a member of the Miami Indian Tribe in Peru. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf. He also had an avid interest in the role of trains in society and passed spare time with HO Model Trains as an extension of that interest.
