Mary E. Huff

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Huff, 90, of Rushville, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

Mary was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Clermont, a daughter of the now late William Ernest and Hallie Faricy (Bundren) Burnell. Her first 10 years were spent in Hendricks County. She completed the eighth grade in Seymour.

On Oct. 15, 1941, she married the Rev. George William Huff in Southport. Mr. Huff passed away Feb. 20, 1997.

Mary spent her early years as a domestic worker in homes in Indianapolis, until her marriage to George. She was then employed at Indianapolis Western Electric for 27 years, retiring in 1978.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved doing things for others in order to help make them happy. She volunteered at Witham for over 25 years. She also volunteered at Boone Senior Services, where she was volunteer of year in 2002 and 2003. She also held the title of Boone Senior Citizen of the year.

Mary was a member of Fairview Congregational Christian Church of Lebanon, Freedom Home Economics Club, Fairview Home Economics Club and a life member of the Pioneer Club.

Survivors include three children, George W. (Sherry) Huff Jr. of Rushville, Betty Jean (Hershel) Ingram of Camden, Ohio, and Carol (Al) Long of Mooresville; stepdaughter, Patti Barnes of El Cajon, Calif.; brother, Furman William Burnell of Noblesville; and 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; six brothers, Louis Burnell, Sammy K. Burnell, Herbert H. Burnell, George Russell Burnell, John Thomas Burnell and James Ernest Burnell; and three sisters, Ruth Burnell, Sallie Ann Nease and Frances Margaret Riddlebough.

Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
