---- — Mr. Byron C. Barton, 45, Lebanon, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Byron C. “Rus” Barton was born in Lebanon on April 6, 1968. He was the son of the late Harry Dean Barton and Wilma Jane (Bowen) Barton.A life resident of Lebanon, Byron attended Lebanon High School. Following school, he joined the Indiana National Guard. In addition, Rus received an Associates Degree in Fitness and Nutrition.

On May 20, 2000, he was married to Christine M. (Davenport) Barton in Lebanon. Mrs. Barton survives.

Byron worked in production for White Castle Meat Processing Plant in Lebanon for 14 years. He also was a personal trainer in his spare time.A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed his family. Byron had many interests including martial arts, bicycling, music, poetry and art.

Survivors include his wife, Christine M. Barton of Lebanon; two children, Erik Burton of Brook, and Jeremy Burton and wife, Misty, of Indianapolis; a sister, Michelle Summers and husband, Kenny, of Lebanon; two brothers, Mr. Steve Woodard and wife, Martha of Lebanon, Mr. Jeff Woodard and wife, LinNa Cheng of Thorntown; and three grandchildren, Cole Burton, Mackenzie Burton and Ava Burton; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Davenport of Boswell; father-in-law: George Davenport and wife, Peggy of Watseka, Ill., and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Byron was preceded in death by a brother, Rickie L. Woodard.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon, with Rev. Merv McNair, officiating.
