Ralph E. Davidson, 89, a lifelong Zionsville resident, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.
He was born March 19, 1924, in Zionsville, to the now late Dillion C. and Mable F. (Shelburne) Davidson. Ralph honorably served his county during World War II in the U.S. Army. He married Vivian Patton in 1945. She preceded him in death in 2002.
Ralph was employed at Dow Chemical for 27 years. He also spent 15 years with Wright-Bachman, and was an eight–year employee of Westfield Trust and of Jones Meat Market. He was a dedicated member of the Zionsville Fire Department, serving his community with them since 1958. Ralph was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 79 and a 56-year member of the Charles F. Frank Lodge #760. He was a dedicated member of Zionsville Christian Church. He was a devoted family man who will be missed dearly by all.
Ralph is survived by his children, Mark (Cathy) Davidson, Debra (Steve) Bousman and Beth A. Murphy; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and sister, Betty Jordan.
Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Zionsville Christian Church. Services for Ralph will be held there Thursday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.
