Ronald “Jerry” Anderson

Mr. Ronald “Jerry” Anderson, 75, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Jerry was born Jan. 16, 1937, in Lawrence County, the son of the now late Arthur William and Viola Fern (Abel) Anderson. He was reared and educated in Englewood.

Following school at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Indiana National Guard. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958 and in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962. Jerry was honorably discharged from each enlistment.

He married Mary Christine “Chris” Bolinger on Sept. 9, 2000, in Lebanon. She survives.

Following his time served in the military, Jerry worked for the RC Bottling Company in Bedford for more than 17 years. He then worked for Coca Cola in Bedford. He then moved to Mitchell, where he worked at the White Castle Meat Processing Plant until he was transferred to the Lebanon facility in 1991. He retired from there in 2003. During his retirement, he was a driver for the Indianapolis Car Exchange.

Jerry had many interests including bowling, golfing, camping and swimming at the pool.

He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Chris Anderson of Lebanon; daughter, Denise Maple of Lebanon; son, Brian Anderson of Bedford; stepchildren, Tammy (Wayne) Irvin of Lebanon and Bill (Teresa) Lashbrook of Mobile, Ala.; brothers, Carl D. Anderson of Paoli, Donald Eugene Anderson of Florida and William Anderson of Lawrence County; sisters, Linda Knight of Lawrence County, Sandra K. Hammond of Bedford and Nancy Smith of Bowling Springs, S.C.; brother-in-law, Bill Bolinger of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Loretta Ames of Brazil; and six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Mary Robertson.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Richard Burdett officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at Browns Wonder Cemetery in Lebanon.
