Mr. James Thomas Riley, 73 of Lebanon, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at his residence.
James was born in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 16, 1940, the son of the now late Martin and Hazel (Gaertner) Riley. He attended schools in Chicago before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1957. He served his country honorably for eight years.
He married Paulette Mae Roughton on Nov. 15, 1969, in South Mills, N.C. After 43 years of marriage, Paulette survives.
Following his military service, James lived in Michigan for 23 years before moving to Lebanon. A plumber by trade, he worked for Gordon Plumbing in Fishers.
James was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and classical movies.
He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Lebanon, and was a member of the American Legion in Lebanon.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette M. Riley of Lebanon; two children, Suzanne M. Ringel and James T. Riley Jr.; brother, Thomas (Lil) Riley of Baldwin, Mo; sister, Irene Brown of Milwaukee, Wis.; three sisters-in-law, Judy Riley of Mokena, Ill., June Riley of Chicago, Ill., and Linda Whitehead of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Alyssa Riley, Rachel Riley, A.J. Ringel, Abigail Riley and Meredith Ringel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin L. Riley and Michael Riley; and a brother-in-law, James Brown.
Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Richard Burdett officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
