Evelyn Maxine Johnson

Mrs. Evelyn Maxine Johnson, 89, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

Evelyn was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Lebanon, a daughter of the now late Walter Lee and Mabel Dell (Kirkpatrick) Stewart. A lifelong resident of Lebanon, she graduated from Lebanon High School in 1941.

Evelyn married John Jennings Johnson on Feb. 8, 1942, in Lebanon. Mr. Johnson passed away on June 18, 1978.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Evelyn loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and watching television, especially soap operas. While at Homewood, Evelyn loved playing bingo. A winner at most games, she had accumulated several Teddy bears as prizes. She also enjoyed playing cornhole.

Survivors include daughter, Linda S. (David) Giger of Lebanon; sister, Joanna Richardson of Danville; sister-in-law, Phyllis Stewart of Lebanon; two granddaughters, Laura Lynn Vickery and Susan Michelle Giger; two great-granddaughters, Carson Elizabeth Vickery and Kayla Michelle Giger; and several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Robert L. Stewart and Charles Stewart.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today, July 2, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Terri Thorn officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
