---- — Mr. Robert “Bob” Strahm, 89, of Carrollton, Ga., formerly of Thorntown, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Pine Knoll Nursing Home in Carrollton.

Bob was born April 21, 1924, in Dunkirk, Ind., to the now deceased Cornelious and Mary (Smith) Strahm. He graduated from Albany Indiana High School in 1942.

He married Edith (Bonnie) Scering on Nov. 7, 1953, in Thorntown.

They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Strahm survives. Bob served in World War II and the Korean Conflict, and spent 12 years in the Army. He was given the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After his time in the service, he worked for Electrolux for 20 years as an auditor.

He was a member of the Colfax Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include his wife, Edith (Bonnie) Scering Strahm; two daughters, Monica Taylor and Dorothy Strahm, both of Franklin, Ga.; one son, Phillip Strahm of Thorntown; and one sister, Betty Rinker, of Wolcottville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Strahm Jr., and a brother, Roy Strahm.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bud Moody officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Thorntown. Military rites will be held at graveside.
