Dennis P. Smith

Mr. Dennis Paul Smith, 62, of Berea, Ky., formerly of Lebanon, died Wednesday, March 05, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Smith was born in Lebanon, to the now late Paul Levere and Ruby Mae Selby Smith.

He retired from the Lebanon Utilities as the water treatment plant operator, and was also retired from the U.S. Army and Lebanon National Guard. Since coming to Berea six years ago, he has taken care of the Fairview Cemetery in Rockcastle County and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith is survived by six sisters, Gladys Edwards of Lebanon, Wilma McClain of Cape Coral, Fla., Wanda Dickerson and Gloria Smith, both of Lebanon, Norma McBride of Audubon, N.J., and Joan McCord of Plainfield. He was cared for by a nephew, Paul (Angi) Smith and a niece, Jennifer Howard, both of Berea. Mr. Smith is also survived by a host of other nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen and Danny Thomas Smith.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Fairview Baptist Church, in Rockcastle County, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Vaughn Rasor officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Davis and Powell Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
