Judith Illingworth Beason

Judith (Judy) Illingworth Beason, 63, of Lebanon, passed away March 1, 2014, at St. Vincent’s Hospice in Indianapolis.

She was born on May 4, 1950, to Elizabeth (Betty) Hasser Illingworth and Kenneth (Kenny) Illingworth. She spent her childhood days in Lafayette.

Judy graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1968. She attended Vincennes University and obtained an associate’s degree in outdoor recreational leadership. She later attended the University of Indianapolis and received a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in psychology.

After graduating from high school, she worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette as a ward secretary in labor and delivery. She was a camp co-director at Cary Boy Scout Camp in Lafayette, worked at the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home, and was a ward secretary at St. Vincent’s Hospital Emergency Room.

She was active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and was an avid reader. She was a member of Countryside Christian Fellowship Church as well as active with Boone County Senior Services. She is survived by her son Zachary Bryan Beason and his wife Jenni (Clark) Beason of Indianapolis, her mother Elizabeth (Betty) Illingworth of West Lafayette, her brothers K. Stephen Illingworth and wife Linda of Scottsburg, and Dean M. Illingworth and wife Phyllis of Indianapolis, her sister Susan Jacobs and husband Mike of West Lafayette, and several nieces and nephews.A memorial viewing will be held at 2 p.m., with a memorial service at 4 p.m., on Saturday, March 15, at Countryside Christian Fellowship Church, 600 West 500 North, Lebanon. A reception will follow. The family has requested that donations be given to the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home at www.childrenshome.net, or to the American Cancer Society at www.donate.cancer.org/index.
