Norman E. Williams

Mr. Norman Eugene Williams, 76, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood, Lebanon.

Norman was born April 19, 1937, in Lebanon. He was the only child of the now late Floyd and Rovene (Woodard) Williams, and was a descendent of James Hill.

Raised and educated in Lebanon, Norman graduated from Lebanon High School in 1956. Following school, he joined the Air Force Reserve.

On Sept. 7, 1957, he was married to Janice Lea (Stewart) Williams at the First Baptist Church in Lebanon. Mrs. Williams survives.A lifelong resident of Lebanon, with the exception of two years in Florida, Norman worked as a construction supervisor for Davis Homes of Indianapolis and Kittle Herman of Indianapolis, retiring in 2003. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid shooting sports enthusiast, and enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his garage. Norman and Janice enjoyed the time spent at their lake home in Monticello.

He was a 57-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lebanon; dual member at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Monticello; member of Redmans Lodge, Monticello; and a member of the Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club, Brookston.

Survivors include his wife, Janice L. Williams of Lebanon; three children, Sherry (companion, Del) Gideon of Colfax, Brett (Mary) Williams of Lafayette and Jalene (Tom) Strawmyer of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Misty McClain, Amanda Kolanowski, Melissa Reagan, William Gideon, Christopher Gideon, Samuel L. Gideon and Brandon E. Williams; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services with Eagles rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. David Wright officiating. Interment will follow service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boone County Cancer Society, 117 W. Elm St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
