Jacob Matthew Allen Shockley

Jacob Matthew Allen “Jake” Shockley, 18, of Advance, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born in Indianapolis, on Dec. 12, 1995, to Christopher A. and Amanda K. (Smith) Shockley.

Jake was a senior at Western Boone High School and a young man full of life. He loved modified cars and attending 31, a car show in Indianapolis, every Saturday night. Jake spent a lot of time learning about and working on cars and stereos. He was a member of Tri-Vo, the Tri County Vocational Technical Program, where he looked up to Mr. Fletcher as a role model. He worked part time at Taco Bell in Lebanon.

He was a giving, loving and a very happy young man, who could not do anything or go anywhere without his beloved friends. He loved having people around him at all times and will truly be missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors include his parents, Chris and Amanda Shockley of Advance; brother, Max Shockley of Advance; close friends living with the family, Ulric Mitchell and Conrad Mitchell of Advance; paternal grandmother, Sandra Shockley of Richmond; maternal grandparents, Tina and Carlos Miller of Advance; aunts and uncles, Jennifer Ballinger of Richmond, Jackie and Kyle Doughty of Jamestown, Kristy and Wayne Martin of Hot Springs, Ark., Drew Miller of Advance, and C.W. Miller, Jenny Miller and Angie Miller, all of Kokomo; and 16 cousins, Alia Thomas, Zachary Thomas, Marissa Doughty, Noah Miller, Benson Miller, Terin Ballinger, Trinity Ballinger, Kelsey Martin, Christian Martin, Jarod Martin, Ezeckial Martin, Jack Martin, Sarah Martin, Julia Martin, Olivia Martin and Alex Martin.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lawrence “JR” Shockley and Gary Smith.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Lebanon Christian Church, 610 W. 250 N, Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, is handling the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Vo, Tri County Vocational Technical Program.
