---- — Richard Alan "Richie" Penny, Jr., 18, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born in Long Island, N.Y., on June 1, 1995, to Kathleen P. (Plante) and Richard Alan Penny, Sr.
Richie and his family moved from New York to Lebanon in 2004, and he graduated from Western Boone High School in 2013. He was attending Ivy Tech on a full-ride scholarship in business and automotive technology and was working at Big O Tires in Lebanon.
He loved hanging out with his family and many friends. Along with his friend, Jake Shockley, he enjoyed modified cards and attending 31, a car show in Indianapolis, every Saturday. Richie was well-known for his two trucks that were modified and were the envy of his group of peers.
Richie was a fun-loving and care-free kind of guy. He loved the classes he was taking at Ivy Tech and was so enthusiastic about what he was learning. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Kathy Penny of Lebanon; two brothers Daniel Lombardi (wife Heather) and Jesse Lombardi, both of Long Island; two sisters, Gabrielle Lombardi and Kayla Penny, both of Lebanon; grandparents Gabrielle and Edward Clifford of Jupiter, Fla., and Catherine and Orin Trabert of Tucson, Ariz.; aunts and uncles Stan and Linda Penny of Tucson, Ariz., Leslie and Tom Degman of Long Island, N.Y., Robert and Linda Penny of Michigan, Kerrie and David Prato of Long Island, N.Y., and Thomas and Angela Plante of Long Island, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers Stan Penny and Thomas Plante, Sr.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, March 20, at Lebanon Christian Church, 610 W. County Road 250 North, Lebanon. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church.
