Mr. Charles William Warburton

Mr. Charles William Warburton, 78, of Lebanon, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at Hickory Creek at Lebanon, in Lebanon.

Mr. Warburton was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Boone County, the son of the now late Joe Raymond and Martha A. (Newkirk) Warburton. A resident of Boone County for most of his life, he graduated from Kirklin High School in 1952, and later attended Purdue University. He was also a graduate of the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.

He worked at Pittman Moore in Zionsville for three years. He then began his career in banking with the Boone County State Bank, where he was vice president and cashier. When the bank became known as Key Bank, he held the position of chief of security. In 1999, he retired after 44 years in the banking industry. He also ran CWT Tree Moving, and operated the family farm north of Lebanon.

Mr. Warburton married Margaret Louise Kelley on Sept. 27, 1953, in Hillisburg; she survives.

He was  a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who loved his family dearly. Several things he had enjoyed doing when not working included serving on the interim school board that formed the Western Boone School Corporation, serving as Clinton Township Trustee for 15 years, and having coffee at Denny’s.

Mr. Warburton was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Lebanon and Elizaville Christian Church, and was a member of the Lebanon Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. Warburton of Lebanon; three children, Stephen W. Warburton of Lebanon, Myra L. (David) Traylor of Auburn and David C. (Cathy) Warburton of Lebanon; grandchildren, Nathaniel C. (Cassidy) Traylor of Mason, Ohio, Rennington R. (Tara) Traylor of Naperville, Ill., and Tyler J. Warburton, Charles L. Warburton and Victoria Warburton, all of Lebanon; and great-grandchild, William Traylor of Mason.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Dr. Grant Hodges and the Rev. Millard Branson officiating. Interment will follow at Browns Wonder Cemetery in Lebanon.
