Robert “Bobby” Earl Padgett

Mr. Robert “Bobby” Earl Padgett, 77, of Lebanon, died Sept. 18, 2013, at Essex Nursing & Rehab. Bobby was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Lebanon to the now late Robert Padgett and Elva (Mutchler) and Garvin “Buck” Dixon. He was the eldest of seven brothers and sisters. Bobby graduated from Lebanon High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He then attended IUPUI and was employed as a dispatcher for the Lebanon Police Department and then dispatched for INPD for several years. Bobby eventually moved to Sylmar, Calif., and worked as a supervisor for Coca-Cola, then worked as a male nurse in the Psychiatric Ward of the VA Hospital in Sylmar. Survivors include his siblings: Richard (June) Dixon, Paul Dixon, Jeanette (Joe) Shahan, Sandy Whisler all of Lebanon, a brother-in-law Bud Smith and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Joyce Dick who died in 2002 and Judy Smith who died recently in 2013. Family and friends will gather Thursday, Sept. 19, for visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. with services to be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Mr. Padgett will be laid to rest following military graveside rites at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. Online condolences may be made at www.strawmyerdrury.com.
