Wendell C. Stewart

Wendell C. Stewart, 84, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Lebanon, of Ernest and Margaret Stewart, who preceded him in death. Wendell graduated from Indiana University in 1952. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, honorably discharged in 1955. Wendell worked for 26 years for the IRS, assigned to the Evansville office, retiring in 1988. He was a member of American Legion and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his sister, Majetta Muhler of Fort Wayne; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and special friend, Margaret Lant and family. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
