---- — Mrs. Claribel Carson, 97, Lebanon, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. Mrs. Carson was born in Lebanon on May 19, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Wilda (Bohannon) Zenor. On July 24, 1938, she was married to William Edgar “Bill” Carson, in Lebanon. Mr. Carson passed away on July 19, 2008. Claribel graduated from Darlington High School in 1936 and attended Central Business College in Indianapolis. She worked for 25 years for Stewart-Warner Corporation (formerly US Machine Corp. and Winkler Manufacturing Corp). Mrs. Carson also had been employed by College Life Insurance Corporation in Indianapolis, and United Methodist and First Baptist Churches, both of Lebanon. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she actively participated in church work, teaching youth, women's activites and music, as well as holding various offices. Mrs. Carson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed her family and their many activities. For several years she gave piano lessons. Claribel’s favorite form of communication was letter writing, until her 90s, when she moved to texting via her cell phone. Survivors include two children, Dr. Ronald A. Carson and wife, Ute of Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Karen Ewing and husband, Joe of McCordsville; seven grandchildren, Caitlin Maria Rottino, Claudia Aenne Habeeb, Cecile Florence Powers, Monty Ewing, Mark Alan Ewing, Matt Ryan Ewing and Megan Elizabeth Kellow, and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Claribel was preceded in death by a brother, Milan Zenor and a sister, Pauline McRoberts. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon. Visitation is planned for Friday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
