John F. Shelburne

John F. Shelburne, 72, of Lebanon passed away Oct. 23, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. John was born Sept. 21, 1941 to the late Lester and Eunice (Woodard) Shelburne. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean (Haughey) Shelburne. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1959 and then attended Purdue University where he received an electrical engineering degree. John worked as an engineer for Public Service, Boone County REMC, Lebanon Utilities and then as manager of the Frankfort Utilities. He retired from Electrical Union 481. John was recently recognized for his 50 years of service with the Boone County 4-H. He was also president of the Boone County Antique Tractor Club. John enjoyed being with his family and friends and traveling. Survivors include four children: Kathy Lee of Lebanon, Kent (Pam) Shelburne of Lafayette, Karla Shelburne Peebles of Heritage Lake and Kyle (Michelle) Shelburne of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Lowell (Vonda) Shelburne of Sheridan, Earl (Sandi) Shelburne of Orlando, FL, and Margaret (Don) Alexander of Kirklin. Family and friends will gather from 4 until 8 p.m. today, Oct. 25, for visitation with a celebration of life ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Interment will follow at Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boone County 4-H, 1300 E. 100 S, Lebanon, IN 46052; or the Boone County Antique Tractor Club, 7975 S. 500 W, Jamestown, IN 46147.
