Loren B. Mitchell

Mr. Loren B. Mitchell, 81, of Thorntown, passed away Nov. 2, 2013, at his residence. Loren was born in Parke County, on March 28, 1932, a son of the now late James H. and Myrtle (Bowen) Mitchell. He was married to Carolyn (Witt) “Sue” Mitchell on Sept. 28, 1956. She survives. Loren was a full-time farmer in Boone County, having raised and showed Registered Polled Hereford Cattle. He also drove a school bus for the Western Boone school district for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Sue; children: Dennis (Kari) Mitchell of Lebanon and Andrew (Roxanne) Mitchell of Zionsville; grandchildren: Kameron Mitchell, Katrina Mitchell, Laura (Stephen) Schott, Sarah (Chris) Moore, Jenna Mitchell, Maddox Mitchell, Maguire Mitchell and Marik Mitchell; great-grandchildren: Theo Schott, Chloe Schott, Campbell Schott, Liam Moore and Emaree Moore; siblings: Joan Miller of Crawfordsville, Rex (Dorothy) Mitchell of Melbourne, Fla.; and brother-in-law, Russell Swisher of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Wayne Mitchell, Max J. Mitchell, Dorthea Jenkins, Madge Swisher, Betty Brinkman; and brother-in-law, Richard Miller. Family and friends will gather today, Nov. 5, for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. in the Dover Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Coyle officiating. Military Rites will be presented at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, INC., 911 E. 86th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240-1848.
