Shirley McQueen

Shirley McQueen, 81, of Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. She was born March 2, 1932, in Crawfordsville, to Foster and Lula (Shrewsbury) Hicks. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1950, and then went to Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She was a nurse before going to work at Raybestos. She was a member of Christ’s United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include children, Dee Dee (Jory) Prather of Lebanon and Steve (Jeanie) Hammel of New Albany; grandchildren, Ryan Lister (Anthony Masseria) of Indianapolis, Shannon (Billy) Richardson of Hawley, Texas, and Ryan (fiancée, Kasey Trinkle) Hammel; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Jade and Sophia. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis McQueen. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave., Crawfordsville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to Hunt & Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave., Crawfordsville, IN 47933, to assist with expenses. Online condolences may be made at www.huntandson.com.
