Opal "Marie" Runion

Mrs. Opal "Marie" Runion, 85, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon. Marie was born in Adair County, Ky., on Oct. 30, 1927, a daughter of the now late John and Mae (Cook) Burton. She was raised and educated in Adair County. At the age of 16, she moved to Mooresville. In 1945, she married Clifford Eugene Runion in Beech Grove. Mr. Runion passed away Dec. 7, 1980. After moving to Boone County in 1960, Marie spent her time as a homemaker, raising her children and taking care of the family home. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved the time spent with her family. Marie enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. Survivors include four children, Mary (Steve) Branham of Lebanon, Clifford (Nancy) Runion Jr. of Mooreland, Lester (Carol) Runion of New Castle, and George (Margie) Runion of Mooresville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents and husband; four brothers, Arie Burton, James Burton, Ezra Burton and Robert Lee Burton; two sisters, Elizabeth Miller and Bessie Goens; and a daughter, Ruby Keeney. Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Myers Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Rosston Cemetery in Zionsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, Md. 21741-5018.
