---- — Clara Myrtle "Mert" McIntire, 88, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. She was born in Lebanon on April 3, 1925. She was a daughter of the now late William Girt and Blanche Florence (Kimble) Doyle. She was reared and educated in Lebanon. Mert had been a life-long resident of the Lebanon community with the exception on one year that was spent in Massachusetts when her husband was in the service. She married Lester Vern "Leck" McIntire on Dec. 12, 1941, in Frankfort. Mr. McIntire passed away on Oct. 29, 1982. Mert worked at Stewart-Warner during World War II. She later worked at Doyle's Grocery Store and Tony's Fruit Market on the corner of Meridian and South Street in Lebanon. In her retirement, she worked part-time at Myers Mortuary. She was an active member of the Hope Community Church in Lebanon and a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Friendly Neighbors Club. A person devoted to her family, Mert was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family and was proud of each of them. Mert was a giving individual and was always helping others. She enjoyed shopping and dining out. Survivors include son Lester V. "Les" McIntire, Jr., and companion Nancy Kincaid of Lebanon; granddaughter Lisa Fought and husband Joshua of Charleston, S.C.; and great-grandson Jackson Fought of Charleston, S.C. In addition to her parents and husband, Mert was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Doyle, Edward Doyle, and the Rev. Clarence Doyle; and four sisters, Ruth Doyle, Tressie McIntire, Mozelle Shirley, and Annabelle Helms. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home with the Rev. Billy Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
