Mr. Gary Wayne Sample, 59, of Lebanon, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at his residence.
Gary was born Dec. 4, 1953, in Lebanon, the son of the now late William Allen and Blanche (Sullivan) Sample. Reared and educated in Lebanon, he graduated from Lebanon High School in 1973. He lived most of his life in Lebanon, with the exception of a few years in California, Florida and Utah.
He was married to Debbie (Highland) Kasper and they divorced. He had spent the last 20 years with his companion, Marcie A. Davis.
As a young man, Gary helped on the family farm. In recent years, he worked at Hendrickson Trailer Suspension Systems of Lebanon, in the shipping and receiving department.
He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and was a founding member of the Dead Fish Bar & Grill Club, for which he held the position of vice president.
Survivors include two sons, Adrian Sample of Lebanon and Travis Sample of West Palm Beach, Fla.; longtime companion, Marcie Davis of Lebanon; stepdaughter, Valarie Davis of Lebanon; sister, Beth A. (Stan) Sample of Austin, Texas; and granddaughter, Kathryn Sanders.
Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel of Memories. Interment will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Fayette.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his honor to the Dead Fish Club or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
