Robert Eugene “Pops” Harper

— Mr. Robert Eugene “Pops” Harper, 74, Indianapolis, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, at I.U. West Hospital in Avon.

Mr. Harper was born in West Pointe, Indiana, on Feb. 22, 1938.  He was the son of the late Gladys (Cheeseman) Ruffin and Donald Harper.

On Nov. 4, 2000, in Marion County, Indiana, he was married to Barbra Kay (Farris) Harper. Mrs. Harper survives.

Mr. Harper was the owner and operator of Wandering Cowboys, a country western store located in Indianapolis.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather, Mr. Harper loved spending time with his family and friends. A cowboy at heart, he also enjoyed listening to country music.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mrs. Barbra Harper of Indianapolis, include three sons, Christopher Harper and wife, Tracy, Mark Polly and wife, Shelley, and Michael Hampton; four daughters, Theresa Hibbard, Sheila McGuire and husband, Charlie, Lisa Hampton, and Lori Ragland and husband, Brian; a brother, Donald “Bo” Harper and wife, Vicki, and two sisters, Debbie Collins, and Sandy Vibbert and husband, Bobby; 17 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harper was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Harper; a daughter, Roberta Harper, and a sister, Shirley Adams.

Funeral services will be held at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at 1:30 p.m.

Visitation is planned for Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home in Lebanon.

Interment will be held at a later date.
