David Lee Nicely

Mr. David Lee Nicely, 66, of Indianapolis, died Friday, Jan. 18, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis.

David Lee “Dave” Nicely was born on April 8, 1946, in Lebanon, to the now late Marvin Richard and Ruth (Allen) Nicely.

Raised and educated in Lebanon, Dave graduated from Lebanon High School in 1965.

He married Carol Ann (Muncie) Nicely on Jan. 7, 1967, in Lebanon. Mrs. Nicely passed away on June 29, 2003.

Having lived in Elkhart and Indianapolis, Dave’s most recent place of employment was at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as a security officer in Gasoline Alley.

Dave was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family. In his spare time, he liked woodworking and was an avid NASCAR and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Survivors include two sons, Mr. David Lee Nicely, II, and wife Kimberly of Indianapolis, and Mr. James Lee Nicely and fiancée Stacy Manns of Elkhart; brother Mr. Richard Nicely and wife Becky of Lebanon; two sisters, Ms. Sue Ann Mikesell of Indianapolis; and Mrs. Mary Louise Hoop and husband Bruce of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Ambrosia N. Nicely; Conner A. Nicely; Kathryn V. Nicely; and Olivia A. Nicely, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dave was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Nicely.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon St., Lebanon.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home in Lebanon.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
