Audrey Jewel Robinson

Audrey Jewel Robinson, 81, of Thorntown, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Thorntown.

She was the oldest daughter born to Chester and Mildred (Young) Robinson in Batesville on March 10, 1931. Audrey and her siblings were raised in the United Methodist Children’s Home in Lebanon. She and her three younger siblings enjoyed their weekly train trips to visit their father in Batesville.

Audrey attended Lebanon High School. She met and married Ercie Williams of Lebanon in 1949. She spent her younger years working in the food industry. Audrey worked at the original Dog-n-Suds and The Sugar Bowl in Lebanon before moving to Florida and returning to Indiana when she became a part owner of Libbertts Concessions in Indianapolis.

Audrey attended Pleasant View Church and enjoyed her visits with the pastor. She enjoyed her family and traveling. She loved taking her great-grandchildren on her travels and watching them enjoy new experiences.

Audrey is survived by her brother, Jon (Sandra) Robinson of Lebanon; a son, Edwin (Patti) Williams of Thorntown; two daughters, Gwen (Phil) Dickey, Sr., of Thorntown and Karen (Jack) Powell of Beech Grove. She leaves behind several grandchildren, Lana (Gary) Carr of Waynetown, Phil Dickey, Jr., and Scott (Joann) Dickey of Jamestown, Josh (Michele) Williams and Jamie (Rene’) Williams of Thorntown, and Stacy Williams and Carl Wagoner of Indianapolis. Audrey also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Audrey will also be greatly missed by her many friends from the Pleasant View Church and her long-time beauty shop friends. Her brother, Lloyd Robinson, and sister, Marna Hoffman, preceded her in death.

The family is planning a “Celebration of Life” for Audrey at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Pleasant View Church, 5295 W. Ind. 32, Lebanon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant View Church Mission Fund or the Women’s Fellowship.

Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon St., Lebanon, has been entrusted with the arrangements for cremation.
