William Lewis Marlow

Mr. William Lewis Marlow, 77, of Whitestown, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Marlow was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Kings Mountain, Ky., the son of the now late Matt and Lilly (Burge) Marlow. He attended schools in Kings Mountain. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS The Sullivans. He served his country honorably for four years.

He married Brenda Belcher on Nov. 11, 1980, in Whitestown. Mrs. Marlow survives.

In 1965, Mr. Marlow began work for Mineweld as a semi driver. After 25 years, he retired in 1990.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he loved having his family around and enjoyed the time spent fishing, talking about his time in the Navy while sitting on his front porch, and watching sports. He and his son spent many hours working on cars, mowers and ATVs together. He enjoyed being in the out-of-doors and listening to country music.

Mr. Marlow was a member of the Whitestown American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Marlow of Whitestown; two children, David (Kelli) Marlow of Lebanon and Pam (Mickey) Turner of Indianapolis; two stepchildren, Angie (Rodney) Woodard of  Clinton, Tenn., and J.D. (Jennifer) Green of Lebanon; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harlan Lee Marlow and Ed Marlow.

Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Chaplain David Clayton officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
