Roy Lee LaFollette

Roy Lee LaFollette, 81, of Zionsville, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at Robin Run Health Center, with his wife, family members and friends at his bedside.

Roy was born in Jay County on April 15, 1932, to Thurman H. and Lucile (Shauver) LaFollette. He graduated from Freetown High School, and attended Purdue University, graduating in 1954 as a registered pharmacist.

He married Harriette Baumer on Sept. 6, 1953.

Roy served in the U.S. Army as a 1st lieutenant from 1955 to 1957, during the Korean War. After the service, he worked as a pharmacist from 1957 until his retirement in 2003.

He was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown. He and Harriette enjoyed camping trips, travel, and many varied hobbies. He was also involved in community service in the Zionsville Lions Club.  

Survivors include his wife, Harriette R. LaFollette; daughter, Sharon L. (Timothy) Baughman of Madisonville, Ky.; sons, Charles A. “Chuck” (Janet) LaFollette of Lincoln, Neb., and Daniel “Dan” LaFollette of Zionsville; daughter, Karen LaFollette of Fort Myers, Fla.; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters who died as infants; and his sister, Betty (LaFollette) McClure.

Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. today, June 18, at New Hope Christian Church, 5780 S. 650 E, Whitestown. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the church. Interment will follow at Zionsville Cemetery.
