Robert J. Reiber

Robert James Reiber passed away on Oct. 13, 2013, at Hendricks Co. Hospital, Danville. He was born April 26, 1929, the son of the now late Omer and Flossie (Graham) Reiber. He married Aletha (Smith) Reiber on Oct. 22, 1949. She passed away July 18, 1982. Bob married Kathryn (Miller) Reiber on Dec. 11, 1982, and she passed away June 13, 1989. Bob is survived by two stepsons, William Eugene (Jill) Miller and David Wayne Miller, both of Lebanon; stepgrandchildren, Mike (Traci) Miller and David (Vicki) Miller, all of Lebanon, and Joshua (Cherish Batts) Miller and Sabrina (Virgil) O’Bryan, of Oviedo, Fla.; stepgreat-grandchildren, Kayla Miller, Kyle Miller, Veronica, Cole and Harlow Miller, all of Lebanon, Cody Miller of San Diego, Calif., Brandon, Landon and Logan Miller, of Thorntown, Haleigh Miller and Darian Hoffman, of Lebanon, Brady Malone of Parke Co., Lillian Anderson of Greencastle and Julia O’Bryan of Oviedo; a great-great-granddaughter Lillyan Fortner; niece, Connie (Ivan) Kouns of Crawfordsville; and several other nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Bob enjoyed traveling and camping with a special niece, Linda Dennis, and her late husband, Don Dennis, and their children. He had been in every state except Alaska and Hawaii. He also enjoyed fishing at Raccoon Lake and at the dam in Monticello. Bob worked as a farm hand during his younger years then worked at Stark & Wetzel Meat Co. in Indianapolis and later at RCA in Indianapolis where he retired. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he proudly served his country in Germany for a year as Motor Pool Mechanic. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a daughter, a sister, Martha (Reiber) Freeland, and girlfriend, Mary Hollis. Family and friends will gather Thursday, Oct. 17, for visitation from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Pastor Lee Faust will be officiating. Gravesides services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
