Norman E. Crawford

Mr. Norman E. Crawford, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. Norman was born June 3, 1931, in Carmel, a son of the now late William Herbert and Wilma (Bogan) Crawford. He was a graduate of Kirklin High School in 1949. He then attended Purdue University, and graduated in 1953 with a degree in economics. Following his schooling, Norman enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably. He married Barbara G. Bischoff on Aug. 24, 1957, in Lebanon. Mrs. Crawford survives. Norman was a longtime resident of Indianapolis, and worked as the Commercial District Manager for Indiana Bell for 32 years. He was a devoted and compassionate man who deeply loved and cared for his family. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, fishing and camping. Norman was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge, all in Indianapolis. Survivors include his wife,Barbara G. Crawford of Indianapolis; two sons, Bruce G. (Karen) Crawford of Carmel and F. Scott (Robyn) Crawford of Ballwin, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah C. Crawford, Paisley Crawford and Paxton Crawford; brother, Jack (Janice) Crawford of Brownsburg; and two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Crawford of Winter Haven, Fla., and Phyllis Crawford of Lake Village. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Crawford and Jerry Crawford. Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St., Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Dr. Linda McCoy officiating. Interment will take place at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin. Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to The Garden, c/o St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260.
