Paul William “Bill” Boller, 88, of New Winchester, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at his residence.
Born Feb. 25, 1925, in Cass Country, Bill was the eldest son of Elijah Matthew Boller and Afton Irene (Taylor) Boller. He is survived by sister, Viola Cox of Greencastle, and brother, Ray Boller of Bainbridge. He was preceded by brothers, Charles Boller, Elijah Boller and Wayne Boller; and sister, Betty Williams. He wed Helen Virginia Lanham on Dec. 22, 1947, and she survives him.
Bill, a caretaker of God’s majesty, farmed from the sixth grade until last year, when he could no longer climb into his tractor. His life’s work was the earth and he took his last breath looking at his crops. In the earlier years Bill raised hogs and cattle; caring for the animals was another passion. He spent many hours making sure the crops were thriving and the animals were tended.
His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Bill and Helen loved having Sunday and holiday dinners, where all were welcome. As the family grew, the time spent together was much more important to him.
Due to health issues, Helen was no longer able to reside at home. Bill waited to take his last breath until his wife of 66 years was at his side.
Bill’s legacy lives on with his children, Billie Hendricks and husband Steve of Danville, John Boller and Melanie Broadstreet of Coatesville, Donald Boller and his wife Lynn of Coatesville, Jacquelene Woodrum and Luther Murray of Roachdale, and Carol Sue Boyer and her husband Bill of Lizton. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, July 2, at Bousley-Hays Funeral Home, 4980 N. Milton St., Coatesville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the funeral home, with Pastor Harlan Kincade officiating. Burial will follow in New Winchester Cemetery.
