LaVerne G. Boyer, 89, of Sheridan, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Oct. 13, 1924, in Sheridan, LaVerne was the son of the now late Everett Elton and Georgia F. (Boyer) Boyer. He was a 1942 graduate of Sheridan High School.
He was a lifetime farmer and enjoyed camping and traveling. He would ride out the cold winter months each year in McAllen, Texas.
LaVerne was a member of the Lebanon Elks club, the K.V. Elliott Post 67 of the American Legion in Sheridan, and was president of the Good Sam Camping Club.
On Nov. 18, 1972, LaVerne married Janie Frances Adair. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2013.
Survivors include his two sons, Michael (Cindy) Boyer of Harrison, Ark., and Garry Boyer of Sheridan; stepson, Davie (Rebecca) Adair of Sheridan; stepdaughter, Margaret Ann Hoelscher of Austin, Texas; and 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; stepdaughter-in-law, Doris Adair; nine grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, D’Armon, J.D. and Joe Barber; and two sisters-in-law, Dora Kunkel and Nancy Hawk.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crown View Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Smith will officiate.
