Joyce A. Ervin

Mrs. Joyce Avril Ervin, 95, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon.

Mrs. Ervin was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 1, 1918, the daughter of the now late Dr. Roy Herbert Armagost and Alice Carey (Adams) Armagost.

She was raised and educated in Minneapolis and was a graduate of West High School. Mrs. Ervin then went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from the University of Minnesota in 1941.

On Nov. 26, 1943, she was married to Robert Dean Ervin in St. Cloud, Minn. Mr. Ervin preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2004.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin resided in Minneapolis for several years before moving to Lebanon in 1952. She worked at Witham Memorial Hospital as a lab technologist from 1954 to 1969. She retired to become a homemaker.

Mrs. Ervin was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her family she enjoyed needlework, gardening, painting and travel. She was a dedicated volunteer, active in the Library, Project Literacy and Meals on Wheels, and she was the first director for the volunteers at Witham Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon.

Survivors include five children, Kathleen Page of Indianapolis, Annette Hill of Tallahassee, Fla., Pamela Park and Barbara (Mark) Springer, all of Lebanon, and Jennifer (Bryan) Kain of Plainfield; nine grandchildren, David Page of Redmond, Wash., Rachel Mott of Tallahassee, Libby Erpelding-Garratt of Indianapolis, Robert Erpelding of Kansas City, Mo., Joseph Gaylor of Indianapolis, Thomas Springer of Lebanon, and Alex Kain, Katy Kain and Andy Kain, all of Plainfield; and five great-grandchildren, Hayley, Cameron, Leslie, Katie and Nicholas.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a brother, Dr. Roy Mark Armagost; a son-in-law, Dudley Park; and a granddaughter, Leslie Hill.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2625 Elm Swamp Road, Lebanon, with the Rev. Scott Mauch officiating. Visitation is immediately following the service in the community room of the church. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
