Irene D. Nesbitt

Mrs. Irene D. Nesbitt, 77, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon.Irene was born in Boone County on April 11, 1937. She was a daughter of the now late Keith Herbert and Doris Opal (Etchison) Williams.A lifelong resident of Boone County, Irene had lived in most areas of the county growing up. She was a 1955 graduate of Lebanon High School.On April 4, 1959, she was married to John William Nesbitt in Lebanon. They spent 55 loving years together. Mr. Nesbitt recently passed away on April 26, 2014.Irene was a devoted housewife. She was quite handy with needlepoint and crocheting. Beginning in 1978, she was a judge for both the Boone County 4-H Fair and the Indiana State Fair in the area of needlecrafts. As a competitor in this area, she won many ribbons. Irene was also very involved with the Boone County Historical Society and was known as the family’s historian.She was a member of the New Brunswick Church of Christ, Sullivan Museum Guild, Hoosier Heritage Quilt Guild, Rainbow for Girls, and was a former member of the Daughters of the American RevolutionSurvivors include two children, Robin Lynn (James) Bartel of Carmel and John David (Becky) Nesbitt of Gallipolis, Ohio; two grandchildren, John D. Nesbitt Jr. and spouse, Dave Giltner, and Emma Lane Nesbitt; two sisters, Mary Jane (Colis) Griffin of Acworth and Minnie Louise (Roy) Dill of Nauvoo, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Williams Johnson of Lebanon.Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; three brothers, Ambrose H. Williams, Oliver M. Williams and David L. Williams; and two sisters, Ida Ethyl Williams and Grace Ann Whitten.Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, July 8, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Chaplain Sharon Bierman officiating. Entombment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.Online condolences may be made at www.myersmortuary.com.
