Mildred J. "Mickey" Perkins

Mildred Jane “Mickey” Perkins, 90, of Lebanon, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. She had resided there for the last seven and one half years.Mickey was born in Newton County on April 21, 1924 on the family farm; the daughter of Lee Roy and Rachel (Warneford) Murphy. She was reared and educated in the Kentland area having graduated high school there in 1942. She also graduated from Approved University of Beauty Culture in Indianapolis. She worked three years at the Barbara Lynn Beauty Shop in Lebanon before getting married.On April 17, 1948 she married Marion Eugene Perkins; a loving union that produced three daughters. Together they worked the family farm and loved traveling to most of the United States, Nova Scotia and Canada.She worked at Clevenger’s Grocery, Wynkoop Pharmacy at Brookston, Arth Drug-West Lafayette, Duncan Electric in Lafayette, Browns Music Store in Bremerton, Washington, Chevrolet in Flint, Michigan and Federal Mogul. She was a member of the Elizaville Christian Church for many years. There wasn’t anything more important to her than her faith and family.Her hobbies included re-finishing furniture, painting, drawing, hang wallpaper, attend flea markets and antiques. She enjoyed being out-of-doors working in her garden, tending to her flowers and spending time with her family. Mickey loved people and especially talking with them.She is survived by her daughters, Karen L. (Rix) Clark and Cheryl (Joe) Tully; four grandchildren Christina and Joshua Tully, Brian (Carey) Clark, Neal Clark and fiancé, Christin Easterhaus; great-grandchildren, David, Ethan, Elizabeth and Aleah Clark.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Pamela K. Perkins; sister, Wanda J. Albert and brother-in-law, Warren Albert.Family and friends will gather for the visitation on Wednesday, July 9, from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N Lebanon St., Lebanon. The Rev. Ed Rourke will officiate her funeral at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, in the mortuary, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Perkins will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Elizaville Christian Church, 5745 N 500 E, Lebanon, IN 46052.Online condolences may be made at www.strawmyerdrury.com.
