Jeffrey Scott Owens

Jeffrey Scott Owens, 50, of Lebanon, passed away May 15, 2013 while under hospice care. Jeff was born to Francis K. Owens and Patricia M. Owens in Crawfordsville on July 30, 1962.

Jeff was a longtime resident of Lebanon. He was a 1981 graduate of Western Boone High School. He married Marcia R. Woodard in 1991, who survives. Jeff worked as a truck driver for most of his career. He was also a jack-of-all trades who often helped many people throughout the community.

Jeff was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed deer hunting with his father-in-law, gardening, golfing and riding his four-wheeler. He also loved going on vacations with his family, In addition, he enjoyed NASCAR racing, Colts football, and various other sports, as well as watching his grandson play football. He enjoyed decorating his home for Christmas and Halloween so he could see the delight in children’s faces.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marcia R. Owens of Lebanon; two daughters, Amber R. (Bronson) Grooms of Lebanon, and Autumn R. Owens, still living at home., and one grandson, Bryce H. Johnson, Lebanon.

Also surviving are his mother, Patricia M. Owens of Lebanon, and three brothers, Vic (Della) Owens of Norfolk, Va.; Tony (Jana) Owens of Thorntown, and kevin (Angela) Owens of Lebanon, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Francis K. Owens.

Friends and family will gather for a celebration of life at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 223 N. Meridian St., Lebanon, on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 2 to 6 p.m., with a memorial service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to an education fund for Autumn Owens in an account established at PNC Bank in Lebanon, or feel free to leave a contribution at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home.
