John E. Williams

John E. Williams, 73, of Chrisman, Ill., formerly of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was a well-known farmer in the Chrisman area for 32 years.

John was born July 21, 1939, in Lebanon, the son of Zenes and Luella Williams. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957. He earned his bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Purdue University in 1961, and his master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois in 1970.

Following graduation from Purdue, John worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Indiana. He was employed for many years as an accredited farm manager with Camp Farm Management Services in Champaign, Ill. He moved to Chrisman in 1977 to begin his farming career, and retired from farming in 2005.

He married Diane Hanson on Nov. 19, 1976; she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Christina (Shane) Moran of Chrisman; two grandchildren, Alexis Moran and Preston Moran; and his brother, Joe (Carolyn) Williams of Lebanon.

John was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Chrisman Lions Club, the Chrisman Area Community Club and past member of the Illinois and American Societies of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Friends may meet the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the First Baptist Church, 308 E. Madison, Chrisman. The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Hoult Cemetery, Chrisman.
