William Martin “Bill” Erickson

Mr. William Martin “Bill” Erickson, 86, of Lebanon, formerly of New Richmond, died peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation at Parkwood in Lebanon.

Bill was born in Annandale, Minn., on Oct. 30, 1926, a son of the late Joseph and Elsie (Gill) Erickson.

Upon graduation from Annandale High School, he was drafted to serve in World War II. After being honorably discharged, he attended the Minnesota School of Business and also completed business courses at the University of Minnesota.

Bill married Mary Patricia Munstenteiger on Aug. 12, 1950, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake, Minn.

He worked for REMC for 46 years, starting in Maple Lake, and then moving in 1953 to Central Power Electric in Minot, N.D., as office manager. In 1968, he became manager of RSR Electric at Milnor, N.D. In 1975, he moved to Indiana as manager of Tipmont REMC in Linden, where he retired in 1995 after 20 years of employment.

Bill was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lebanon. He was formerly a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Crawfordsville for 32 years. Other memberships included the Knights of Columbus, Elks, American Legion, VFW, Eagles and Moose Lodge.

He loved to ballroom dance, hunt and fish.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Lebanon; his four daughters, Becky (Duane) Flaagan of Pekin, N.D., Cindy (Bob) Arnold of Lake City, Iowa, Jill (David) Asher of Lebanon and Jacqueline (Daniel) Schlichting of Uvalde, Texas. Surviving grandchildren include four grandsons, four granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 p.m., after the visitation. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E. South St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Dave Hellman officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at the Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery in Crawfordsville.
