Mrs. Rosa Jean Hood, 80, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.
Mrs. Hood was born in Hazel Patch, Ky., on July 5, 1932. She was the daughter of the now late Harley Wesley and Mary Alice (Griffith) Pharms. She attended schools in Kentucky.
She married Richard Melvin Hood on Oct. 29, 1949, in Lebanon. Mr. Hood passed away Oct. 1, 1983.
In 1955, Mrs. Hood and her family moved to Lebanon.
She worked in local restaurants in many capacities. For a period of time, she worked as a nurse’s aid at English Nursing Home, formally known as Oak Park Manor, and also worked at Stewart Warner in Lebanon.
Mrs. Hood was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, cleaning and baking.
She was a member of Lebanon Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include seven children, George (Barbara) Hood of Lebanon, Mary Kinslow-Hilton and husband, Lewis Hilton, of Glasgow, Ky., Patsy (Virgil) Jones of Stockbridge, Ga., Carlos D. “Charlie” (Rebecca) Hood of Lebanon, Brenda (Rick) Clark of Reelsville, Rose (Robert) Baldwin of Lebanon and Penny (Leo) Reynaga of Versailles, Ky.; sister, Florence (Denver) McHargue of Dayton, Ohio; and 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rosa was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today, March 29, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Matt Skiles and the Rev. Art Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.
