Michael Thomas Latz

— Michael Thomas Latz, 51, of Zionsville, died March 29, 2013.

He was born March 23, 1962, to David and Barbara Ann (Fisher) Latz. Michael was a 1980 graduate of Brebeuf Preparatory School and received bachelor’s degrees in both civil engineering and land surveying from Purdue University.

Michael married Suk Kyong “Sukie” Kim on Sept. 7, 1996, in Dallas, Texas. He was a former employee of American Structurepoint.

Being a devoted husband to Sukie and dad to his two children, Emma and Lachlan, were the most important things in Michael’s life. He used his engineering skills to help build sets for Emma’s ballet recitals, and he coached Lachlan’s soccer team and helped with his football team. Michael enjoyed working with wood, hiking in the mountains, and cheering for his beloved Green Bay Packers. He owned shares in the Packers, and has his name on a brick at Lambeau Field.

Michael served his community as a member of the Boone County Redevelopment Commission and as a board member and former president of the Boone County Economic Development Committee.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife and children, Sukie, Emma and Lachlan; his mother, Barbara Latz; his brother, Mark “Hawk” Latz (Holly) and sister, Lisa Latz Condes (Scott); and loving nieces and nephews, Che’lee, Ellia and Yeahsen John and Ava and Maya Latz, and his extended loving family. He was preceded in death by his father, David Latz, D.D.S.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 2, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April, 3, at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak, Zionsville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School (where Emma is a member of the class of 2016), 2801 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46268.
