Mr. Francis John Babineau, 66, of Lebanon, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.
Francis was born Oct. 6, 1946, in Greenfield, Mass., to the now late Herbert and Josephine (Currier) Babineau. He was raised and educated in Greenfield. Following school, he joined the United States Navy and served his country honorably for four years.
Francis was married to Patricia Ann VanMeter, and they divorced. On July 18, 1992, he married Betty Jean Baumgardner in Lebanon. Mrs. Babineau survives.
In 1970, Francis moved to Indiana. For 16 years, he was employed as a union ironworker. Most recently, he was the cook/chef for Kingsbury, now known as Hickory Creek at Lebanon, and Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.
He was dedicated to his family, and he enjoyed camping, fishing and handheld games.
Francis was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lebanon.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Babineau of Lebanon; two sons, Francis J. (Brenda) Babineau Jr. of Parker, Colo., and Gregory S. Babineau of Indianapolis; 10 stepchildren, Debbie Small and Chuck (Tammy) Stambaugh, all of Lebanon, Malcolm (Cathy) Stambaugh of Galva, Ill., Ed (Melanie) Stambaugh of Frankfort, Lisa (Dennis) Barker of Romney, Lora (Mark) Woodard of Colfax, Shawn Strong of Ladoga, Jim (Melissa) Stambaugh of Lebanon, Paula (Andy) King of Lafayette and Travis Arnold of Lebanon; sister, Donna (Steve) Mahan of Virginia; three grandchildren, Tanjha VanHoosier, Addison Babineau and Connor Babineau; and 26 stepgrandchildren and 22 stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Darrell Small; and step grandson, Jimmie Small.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Richard Burdett officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Boone County.
